My name is Hila Halfon and a year ago I founded SeeYou – a brand for stylized mirrors.
The SeeYou story began two and a half years ago. That’s when I started my journey in the fascinating world of classical oriental music.
What’s the link between my mirrors and music? Synesthesia (see the dictionary definition); mixing the senses.
That was the first time I was exposed to the deep, ancient sounds from the deserts of Yemen, the plains of Persia and Azerbaijan, colorful Turkey, mysterious Egypt and down-to-earth Greece, which were all eventually translated into my mirrors.
The whole time I was surrounded by special musical instruments, and each instrument introduced me to people, many types of people, each with his own mirror.
Whenever we sat in Jerusalem alleys making music into the night, these sounds always wrapped my senses in real colors and shapes.
The musical scale called Hijaz in Arabic music always created a royal atmosphere of purple and blue for me.
The sounds of the Kamancheh (Persian violin) in the Persian Mahur scale filled me with the light turquoise blue of the sea.
The trills in the Yemenite women’s ancient song created a reddish brown texture that burst from my throat.
Gradually, through music, working in interior design, and much interaction with people, I formed the idea of creating special designs on mirrors, to provide a special frame for our reflections.
The idea of SeeYou is to create mirrors that are both special objets d’art for the home, and mirrors that reflect other sides of us, through whichever design we choose.
I want people to enjoy looking at themselves through my mirrors, to discover their beauty, and simply to smile.
